Sensitive Skin — skincare guide
Sensitive skin reacts easily, so it needs a short routine of gentle, soothing products that support the skin barrier and keep irritation low. A few well-tolerated products usually work better than many actives.
Signs and needs
Skin stings or turns red after new products, wind, sun or hot water, and often feels tight or itchy. Redness may show on the cheeks. Sensitive skin needs calming, fragrance-free formulas and a strong barrier.
Key ingredients
Centella asiatica and heartleaf help skin look calmer and less red. Panthenol and allantoin soothe and soften. Ceramides rebuild the barrier that keeps irritants out. You will find them in SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella, Anua Heartleaf, Medicube Super Cica and Dr. Althea products. The shop has a separate page for each of these ingredients.
A simple routine
In the morning, rinse with water or a low-pH, fragrance-free gel cleanser. Use a soothing toner with centella or panthenol, pressing it in with your hands rather than a cotton pad. Apply a calming centella ampoule, then a barrier cream with ceramides. Finish with a gentle mineral or hybrid sunscreen SPF 50. In the evening, remove sunscreen with a mild cleansing oil and repeat the same steps.
What to avoid
Avoid fragrance, essential oils, alcohol-heavy toners, scrubs and hot water. Add new products one at a time. Introduce acids and retinol slowly, or skip them altogether.
Frequently asked
Which cleansing foam or gel suits sensitive skin?
A mild, low-pH gel or cream cleanser without fragrance that leaves skin soft, not tight. A gentle foam, such as the SKIN1004 centella cleansing foam, also suits most sensitive skin.
Is centella good for sensitive skin?
Yes. Centella is one of the gentlest soothing ingredients. The SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella line is built around it, from toner and ampoule to cream and sunscreen.
How do I test a new product on sensitive skin?
Apply a small amount on the jawline or behind the ear once a day for three to five days. If there is no redness, itching or burning, use it on the whole face.
Which sunscreen suits redness-prone skin?
A fragrance-free SPF 50 with soothing ingredients, such as centella or rice, in a mineral or hybrid formula. If you have rosacea or another diagnosed skin condition, ask your doctor which products suit you.
