Ginseng
Ginseng — in skincare
Ginseng (Panax ginseng) is a root prized in hanbang, Korea's traditional herbal beauty. In skincare it is an antioxidant that helps tired, dull skin look more radiant, mainly thanks to compounds called ginsenosides.
What it does for skin
Ginseng helps defend skin against everyday stress, supports hydration and helps skin look smoother and more even. Results are gradual: it is a nourishing support ingredient, not a fast-acting active.
Who it suits
Dull, dry, tired or mature-looking skin, and normal skin that wants a gentle antioxidant. Some ginseng cleansing oils contain essential oils, so very sensitive skin should check the ingredient list.
How to use it
Use ginseng across the routine: a cleansing oil on dry skin in the evening, an essence water after cleansing, a serum before cream and a hydrogel mask once or twice a week. It pairs well with retinol, vitamin C and niacinamide.

Frequently asked
What does ginseng do for skin?
It works as an antioxidant and hydrating ingredient that helps skin look brighter, smoother and less tired; ginsenosides are the compounds most linked to these effects.
Is ginseng skincare suitable for oily skin?
Yes, in light formats. A ginseng essence water or serum suits oily skin, and a cleansing oil that rinses off fully works for most skin types.
Can I use ginseng every day?
Yes. Ginseng toners, essences and serums are made for daily use. Use hydrogel masks one to three times a week.
